Welcome to my Twisted Mind...
Mostly when we make characters, they're part of an rpg existing in the world, a protagonist. We also like to create side characters, that may interact with our protagonist in-universe. A lot of them are based off other characters, who are put into the universe and have equivalent circumstances/characteristics, though I like to get creative with it as well.
THE ELDER SCROLLS
Ever since playing Skyrim in 2016, I've loved the Elder Scrolls universe. It's deeply flawed, but in a strange way the biases of the writers plays into the societal biases in-universe. It's a realistic universe thats unfortunately quite like our own, with biased and unreliable historical sources and propaganda, empires fighting for power, colonization, it's a very political universe. The way in which the fantasy elements come through is very interesting as well, they are also political- imagine a world where gods existed metaphysically and played politics with the mortal folk, unleashing devastating destruction just as they do. Pretty crazy. I could go on.
Morrowind
FALLOUT
I played Fallout 4 when it came out, unaware of the series, and it honestly blew me away. Of course as anyone familiar with the series knows, it just gets better the more you dig in. I got a free digital copy of Fallout 3 that came with Fo4 and again, blown away. Once I found out about New Vegas I desparately wanted to play, but it wasnt until months later that I finally convinced my mom to get it for me. This game stole days of play time from me but I would do it all again.
I still haven't made it through all the DLC, because I prefer to savor it, although I predict Dead Money will stay my #1. On the topic, my favorite Fo4 DLC is Far Harbor, obviously. And for Fallout 3, that'd have to be Point Lookout. I often begin new playthroughs and craft a character based on whatever I'm into at the moment, so some entries will be brief.
VAMPIRES
Being diagnosed with bipolar II I find the concept of vampirism anagolus to a depressive episode, but it can also be a sex thing, and a psychosis thing. I think primarily my kinship lies within Vampire the Masquerade.
I would consider myself clan Gangrel, feral and predatory kindred, masters of the Protean Discipline (the ability to change shape into somethingmore beastly) and able to control animals. Often times they can lose their temper, and in the case of Beckett, their animalistic outbursts can result in features becoming permanent, including excessive body hair, claws, and glowing eyes.
As well, another clan I identify with is clan Malkav, enigmatic and deeply disturbed kindred sharing a psychic connection to The Cobweb (Madness Network). Malkavians are rarely taken seriously in-universe, and in Bloodlines their dialogue choices are nearly incomprehensible. By fans they're considered a disrespectful depiction of the mentally ill, at least in the early days.
Risotto
Source: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Vento Aureo
Risotto is one of the older members, appearing in about 2018/2019. The part 5 anime kicked things off. These days she typically fronts, comfortable with city situations, working, and dealing with people in a way that keeps us safe.
Matching with our wife (Dia): Diavolo. Why people insist on shipping Diavolo with Kira from part 4, and Risotto with Proscuitto, I will never understand. Theres a fanfic I'm working on thats more or less the memory I have of being together. Very messy.
John Marston
Source: Red Dead Redemption
This kin split (new term im coining right this second) happened just after the appearance of Risotto. Hit us like a brick. Complex character, similarly unable to control our anger, unable to find a place in american society, with a past that set us up for failure.
Matching with our wife (Dia): Abigail. They're just like us fr
Matching with our partner (Will): Javier. That kind of homoerotic enemies to lovers lovers to enemies feel.
Ogata Hyakunosuke
Source: Golden Kamuy
A lot to say here. The worst of our social inability, disordered thinking, self hatred, superiority complex, and our misanthropic attitude all put into one entity. There is a wildcat motif (as there are animal motifs for the majority of the cast in this series) so it was basically inevitable. Our partner showed it to us, and Ogata was about the worst character we could have kinned. But its cathartic to see someone simiarly damaged and tainted from birth, even if that self-percieved idea is the entire reason why he's a terrible person.
Richter
Source: Castlevania: Rondo of Blood/Symphony of the Night
Richter was our only member for a few years before learning we were a system. It's been a long time since she's been around, shes a pushover and definitely not suited for capitalism and is easily manipulated. Still, she's an important member to us, and her source is still a big interest for us as a whole.
Matching with our husband (Adrian): Alucard. They actually met through castlevania and got me and my partner together.
Jonathan Joestar
Source: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Phantom Blood
They're basically the same character.
Kenshiro
Source: Hokuto no Ken/Fist of the North Star
They're basically the same character.
Victor
Source: X-Men: The Animated Series
Victor typically shows up when we're out socialized, particularly at music shows or going out drinking. In conversation, while she's good at socializing, she makes us look like a cocky asshole. But i guess it's better than a colder quiter presence.
Matching with our partner (Will): Wolverine. My runt and mortal enemy and soulmate.
Matching with our wife (Dia): Emma Frost. Villain things.
Ryuji Yamazaki
Source: Fatal Fury/King of Fighters
This entity has actually existed since 2021, but when Victor appeared he was sorta picked up by him. Same niche.
Matching with our wife (Dia): Shermie. I assigned her Shermie because theyre so similar, and itstuck. Peruvian Shermie she keeps cuy instead of hamsters.
Farkas
Source: Skyrim
Technically the oldest entity, though she appeared first as a figment of our body's imagination. Recently she has re-appeared in a more favorable way. It isnt often that she's around, because she doesnt like the city.
SOLID SNAKE
Source: Metal Gear
This kin is also an older development, but was picked up by Farkas after much deliberation as to where this belonged
Matching with our partner (Will): Grey Fox. Lovers to enemies. Classic. We are not immune to "stuck serving in the military together" trope. Don't know whats up with that.
Demitri
Source: Darkstalkers
Demitri never comes around for normal reasons. It's usually either because we're having an episode, or during sex. Mostly Demitri exists in the background, though she does like inahbiting physically, there's rarely any reason for that to happen.
Matching with our partner (Jedah): Jedah. What more to say.
Matching with our partner (Dia): Morrigan. IDGAF what yaoi-brained tumblr has to say, their relationship in the OVA is actually quite good.
Mister Sinister
Source: X-Men: The Animated Series
Professional breeding freak, it was kind of against our will that he kinned this fucker. But its kinda perfect.
Matching with our wife (Dia): Emma Frost. Villain things.
Matching with our partner (Will): Wolverine. I hesitate to add this because its almost purely sexual.
BECKETT
Source: Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines
Beckett is incredibly reclusive (she doesnt like the word "shy"), and kind of embarrassed about her existence. The situation surrounding her manifestation was drowning in shame and guilt because of someone close to us at the time. Sometimes she will make an appearance to rant about anthropology or a related subject, which is kinda silly.
Matching with our wife (Dia): Lucita. Less of a dedicated kin for her, more like a kin of convinience. Someone occupying a similar niche, someone Beckett loved who was very close with her. Sorry you have to kin a Spanish person..
VAN HELSING
Source: Dracula (unspecified)
Sort of a vibe checked kin made up of an amalgamation of ideas surrounding the character. A bit ironic considering Beckett is a vampire.
Alex
Source: Street Fighter 3
A footnote to this section. Only a few appearances in recent years, but she dates back to 2019. It's surprising that she isnt aorund much, considering the fact that we are currently living IN New York City, actively appropriate military fashion, and frequently eat NYC style pizza.
